At this organization, manufacturing reliability is critical. The organization is actively transitioning towards Smart Digital Manufacturing, with a strong focus on predictive maintenance and intelligent systems.
Within the ABR Equipment Engineering domain, a dedicated Machine Learning capability is being established. This role will be the first ML-focused hire on-site, working alongside existing data analysts and engineers to bring machine learning into production environments.
The foundation (data platforms, global use cases, IIoT initiatives) is in place. The challenge is to translate this into working, production-grade ML systems that reduce downtime and improve operational efficiency.

You will design, build, and deploy end-to-end machine learning solutions focused on equipment reliability and predictive maintenance.

1. End-to-End ML Development
- Design and implement full ML pipelines:
- Data ingestion → preprocessing → modeling → deployment → monitoring
- Develop models for:
- Predictive maintenance
- Anomaly detection
- Condition-based monitoring
2. Industrial Data Analysis
- Work with IIoT and manufacturing data, including:
- Vibration and frequency signals
- Temperature and pressure data
- Force/position metrics
- Image data (future scope)
- Translate physical system behavior into meaningful features and models
3. Production Deployment
- Build robust, production-grade Python pipelines
- Deploy models into manufacturing environments
- Ensure scalability, reliability, and maintainability
4. Monitoring & Continuous Improvement
- Monitor model performance in production
- Detect and address:
- Model drift
- Data drift
- Continuously improve models based on real-world feedback
5. Visualization & Insights
- Develop dashboards (e.g. Grafana)
- Enable engineers and operators to act on model outputs
6. Collaboration
- Work closely with:
- Equipment & automation engineers
- Data analysts
- Global data science teams
- Adapt and implement existing global use cases locally where relevant
7. Innovation (Secondary Focus)
- Contribute to future initiatives such as:
- Computer Vision (line monitoring, anomaly detection)
- Digital Twin systems (simulation & optimization)
Tech Environment
- Python (pandas, scikit-learn, PyTorch/TensorFlow)
- Databricks
- Docker, CI/CD pipelines
- Grafana (or similar visualization tools)
- IIoT data platforms
Profile
Must-have
- Strong Python and software engineering skills (production-level code)
- Experience deploying ML models into real environments
- Solid understanding of:
- Anomaly detection
- Time-series / sensor data
- Ability to work end-to-end (data → model → deployment)
- Experience in industrial, manufacturing, or system-heavy environments
- MSc (or equivalent experience) in a relevant field
Strong plus
- Predictive maintenance experience
- Understanding of physical systems (e.g. pumps, compressors)
- Experience in regulated environments (e.g. GMP)
- Computer vision knowledge (CNNs, transformers, anomaly detection)
- Cloud experience (e.g. AWS)
