Howden Reciprocating and Centrifugal compressors (HCR), is a specialist supplier of tailor-made gas compression equipment to various industries. Their products have made a valuable difference for their clients for the past 100 years, and we are now looking for a Product Sales Manager for the Value Stream reciprocating compressors, who will develop and manage new built compressor sales in his/her sales territory and will assist Howden in making a valuable difference in the century to come.

What needs to be done?

  • Maps the sales territory (defined in terms of geographic markets, applications and/or product-market combinations);
  • Identifies new developments with the aim of further developing the potential and potential projects in the designated area and reports these to Team Leader Sales;
  • Provides the input for business cases, project strategies and provides presentations and reporting;
  • Maps out the Decision Making Unit for projects, together with the regional sales organisation, and establishes personal contact with the key decision makers at the earliest possible stage, together with the regional sales organization;
  • Manages relationships with strategic customers, internal and external partners in the designated sales territory;
  • Visits customers, potential customers and external partners, in consultation with the regional sales organization;
  • Keeping track of information regarding potential and current customers and projects, competitive position and relevant developments in CRM and other applicable systems;
  • Takes the lead in all sales processes in the designated sales area up to the moment of order;
  • In consultation with the Commercial Proposal Manager and Team Leader Sales and the regional sales organization, propose or assess proposals for agencies, consultants and/or distributors and initiate the internal approval procedure according to the Howden guidelines.

  • BSc degree in a Technical or Commercial direction;
  • A minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in capital goods sales;
  • Experience in working with agents, regional offices and/or distributors;
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills;
  • Proven experience in presenting to internal and external audiences;
  • Results driven; ability to create a winning atmosphere;
  • Ambition, positive attitude, creativity and ability to think outside the box;
  • Solution oriented, ability to build bridges and to have a healthy debate;
  • Team player mentality, strong time management skills, a mentality that questions the status quo but also ability to design and implement alternatives, ability to zoom in and zoom out, from operational to strategic and back;
  • Fluency in English (spoken and written), including reporting skills;
  • Willingness to travel regularly (30-50%).
