As a Cleanliness Expert, you will be responsible for defining, validating, and safeguarding contamination-control requirements across complex systems and components.
As Cleanliness Expert, you will drive the design and production of the cleanest high-tech systems in the industry, meeting extreme cleanliness standards such as grade 1. You understand the impact of cooling fluids, cutting oils, and production residuals on system performance, and you know how to prevent contamination at every stage of the supply chain. Your mission is to specify, validate, and enforce cleanliness requirements that ensure system functionality, reliability, and long-term stability.
Your responsibilities include:
- Specifying cleanliness requirements for systems and parts to ensure functional performance.
- Actively participating in design reviews to ensure proper execution of contamination-control requirements.
- Leading the functional qualification of systems, with a focus on surface analysis and photochemistry.
- Taking ownership of root-cause analyses in case of contamination-related issues or failures and proposing effective alternatives.
- Developing and maintaining contamination-control design rules that meet ultra-clean system requirements.
- Proposing new ideas and supporting the organization in advancing contamination-control capabilities.
- Documenting specifications, supporting calculations, and testing results with high accuracy and clarity.
- Providing methods, tools, and verification techniques to validate cleanliness requirements.
- Detecting, mimicking, and controlling contamination, including designing tools when necessary.

- A temporary or permanent contract with YER.
- Competitive employment conditions: Salary and benefits equivalent to those offered by VDL (max €8000), based on your education and experience.

Education:
- Master’s degree in Physics, Mechanical Engineering, Chemistry, Materials Science, or a related field with a clear specialization in cleanliness of parts.
- Certifications in FMEA, DOE, or Six Sigma are considered a strong advantage.
Experience & Expertise:
- Proven experience in designing and producing ultra-clean high-tech systems that meet the strictest industry standards (e.g., grade 1).
- Experience with ultra-high vacuum systems down to mbar.
- Demonstrated ability to write and deploy contamination-control strategies across the entire supply chain.
- Strong knowledge of molecular cleanliness and contamination physics.
- Hands-on experience with validation methods such as SEM-EDX, RGA analysis, XPS, and particle-detection techniques.
- Broad market experience in high-tech equipment, scientific instrumentation, semiconductor systems, and space applications.
Technical Strengths:
- Strong focus on materials science, analytical chemistry, surface chemistry, and contamination control.
- Solid experimental and/or theoretical experience in surface analysis and material characterization.
