Ink Researcher
Are you passionate about chemistry, materials science, and early-phase innovation? YER is looking for a talented Ink Researcher to join the R&D team at Canon Production Printing (CPP) in Venlo. In this role, you’ll help develop the next generation of UVgel inks — a breakthrough technology in inkjet printing — with a strong focus on sustainability.
You’ll work at the forefront of product innovation, translating bold ideas into tangible solutions that power tomorrow’s graphic arts printing systems.
You’ll be part of a dynamic project team within the Technology Development Department, focused on advancing UVgel ink technology. You’ll also engage with the broader UVgel community at CPP — a diverse group of experts with deep knowledge across chemistry, physics, and engineering.
As an Ink Researcher, you’ll be responsible for:
- Ideating and developing new UVgel ink concepts
- Designing and formulating inks, characterizing material properties, and testing performance at lab and printer level
- Planning and executing experiments, analyzing results, and evaluating technical feasibility
- Collaborating with internal stakeholders and fellow researchers in the UV ink domain
- Reporting findings and contributing to intellectual property generation
This position is based at CPP’s state-of-the-art R&D center in Venlo, with flexible hybrid working options.

What You Bring
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemistry, Materials Science, or a related technical field
- Preferably 2+ years of experience in industrial R&D
- Strong background in radiation-durable ink/coating formulation and material characterization (e.g., rheology, mechanical testing)
- Ability to translate application needs into technical challenges and uncover structure–property relationships
- Proven problem-solving skills and a proactive, independent mindset
- Excellent communication skills in English (spoken and written)
