Challenging role within a dynamic environment
As a control and dynamics engineer, you will be working together with colleagues on the development and realization of opto-mechanic and mechatronic
prototypes for the semiconductor industry, for space- and scientific instrumentation and for the high-tech manufacturing industry.
You are familiar with the fundamentals of eigenfrequencies and eigenmodes of mechanical structures and knows how to process modal analyses to predict
dynamic behavior. You have the ability to derive multi-dimensional lumped-mass models of mechanical systems and can relate these to FEM and experimental results. You have expertise to validate dynamic performance in practice, i.e. is familiar with system identification techniques and/or experimental modal analyses. Preferably, you also have some background in non-linear dynamics, and you are able to formulate and analyze specific non-linearities in mechanical systems or new system concepts, and is able to translate the results in practical solutions.
Moreover, you are familiar with control engineering terminology and knows the basics of linear control theory and controller synthesis. You can interpret Bode diagrams and can relate these to mechanical properties of the system. You are able to apply loop-shaping techniques, assess the resulting closed-loop behavior of the whole system, and is familiar with more advanced synthesis techniques such as robust and adaptive control. Preferably, you have experience with nonlinear analyses and controller synthesis techniques, in order to come up with
innovative solutions for the complex systems of the future.
The research group develops high-end opto-mechanical and mechatronics systems for applications in the semiconductor industry, space instrumentation and big science. Together with other specialists, systems engineers and project managers, they develop working instrument prototypes to show how the technical challenges of our partners and customers can be solved. We push the limits of technology, to stimulate Dutch industry and enable scientific discovery. To build on this success, we are looking for a Control and Dynamics Engineer.
