The position

On-Board Diagnostics (OBD) is a precision-based technology embedded into PACCAR’s world-class diesel engines. It’s a digital communication system that provides a real-time snapshot of Engine and Aftertreatment performance to aid service technicians during repair. On-Board Diagnostics is about making a global impact while examining the tradeoffs between certification and robustness.

Specifically, it diagnoses engine components and performance for integrity and compliance with emission and diagnostic regulations. Making sure the dash light informs the truck driver of a failed component, as well as making sure that there are no false failures to annoy drivers and confuse service technicians.

For this vacancy, we are looking for a Diagnostic Calibration Engineer within the field of Air Management Diagnostics.

The Air Management system drives the performance of the engine, containing critical components such as the Turbocharger, Charge Air Cooler and EGR.

Responsibilities:

    • Create calibrations for your own set of Air Manager related diagnostics
    • Developing Best Performing Unacceptable (BPU, failed) parts for your diagnostics
    • Developing Worst Performing Acceptable (WPA) parts for your diagnostics
    • Devising testing strategies to collect the required data for your calibrations, and for testing their effectiveness and robustness
    • Provide input to & update certification documentation to provide legislator with required information
    • Investigate field issues and bring them to structurally sound resolution
    • Ensure your diagnostic calibrations comply with legal and standardization requirements
    • Coordinate internal activities related to these topics
