The position

As System Integration Engineer Assembly you will be assembling, integrating and testing complex high-tech systems and assist in solving potential problems that occur during the integration and test phase. Work with our R&D team of multi-disciplinary engineers and contribute to developing and delivering new innovative high-tech systems.

You will play a key role in the realization of our current platform project, which is scheduled to be completed and released within this year. This provides a unique opportunity to contribute directly to the final integration, validation, and industrialization phases of a new high-tech platform.

What you will do

In the design and preparation phases you will:

  • Review and influence module test plans to ensure smooth integration of the modules into the system.
  • Prepare facilities and system for the integration of new modules and parts.
  • Assist in the preparation of assembly, installation and test procedures.
  • Install and integrate modules and (sub)systems.
  • Execute test and calibration procedures of these modules (sub)systems.
  • Document progress of assembly and test plans.
  • Troubleshoot on the system in case of problems.
  • Solve and/or report problems during integration and testing.

In the validation, release and support phases you will:

  • Take lead in the definition of the problem statement and be a sparring partner during the analysis and solution phase of system issues.
  • Advice on product release status based on configuration data.
  • Be responsible for acceptance and registration of delivered subsystems and parts.
  • Training of support/service engineers.
  • 3rd line support of installed systems at customers if and when required.

Workshop and Equipment Management:

  • Manage workshop machines and equipment throughout their lifecycle, including unpacking, installation, setup, process qualification, maintenance and repair.
  • Dismantle, prepare, package and coordinate shipment of machines and equipment.
  • Perform mechanical modification and improvement activities on machines and systems.
  • Operate and support machining and fabrication activities, including milling, turning, fitting and welding when required.

Additionally, in the design, integration and validation phases you will:

  • Perform machine acceptance tests (FATs) for systems such as Tagliner, DBSG, DBRE and other equipment at supplier locations.
  • Perform module acceptance tests for modules such as WT, PH, (R)PU, WCh and other assemblies at supplier and manufacturing sites.
  • Travel regularly to supplier locations and partner companies to support machine and module acceptance activities.
  • Participate in development projects, providing hands-on support during machine and system integration activities.
  • Develop integration plans, test plans and validation reports.
  • Execute system and module tests, analyze results and propose improvements to optimize performance and reliability.
  • Support the installation, commissioning and troubleshooting of equipment and subsystems.

About you

What you will need

  • Bachelor or Masters’ degree in electrical engineering, mechatronics or mechanical engineering.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience working on integration of mechatronic systems.
  • Applications from early-career Mechatronics Engineers with strong technical aptitude, hands-on experience, and a demonstrated interest in system integration and high-tech equipment will be considered as well.
  • Hands-on experience with mechanical assembly, machine integration and workshop operations is very important.
  • Practical skills in machining and fabrication techniques, such as milling, turning, fitting and welding, are considered a strong advantage.
  • Experience writing integration plans, test plans and validation reports.
  • Ability to work independently in a workshop and laboratory environment while maintaining a structured and organized way of working.
  • Familiarity with continuous improvement methodologies such as 5S is preferred.
  • Experience with measurement equipment management and maintenance of electrical and mechanical tools is an advantage.
  • Experience with systems such as AutoCAD and Teamcenter.
  • Willingness to perform operational support tasks such as shipment preparation, packaging and logistics coordination when required.
  • BHV (Emergency Response Officer) certification, or willingness to obtain it, is considered an advantage.
  • Pro-active “make it happen” attitude, Self-starter and result driven.
  • Analytically strong, enthusiastic, flexible, assertive, proactive, structured.
  • Ability to interface and cooperate with different people on different organizational levels.
  • Willingness to travel frequently. Travel will initially be primarily within the Netherlands (e.g., supplier and partner locations) and may later expand to international destinations, particularly in Asia (ex. Malaysia and the Philippines), to support integration, installation, and acceptance activities.
