The position
Role summary
We are looking for an Interim Strategic Communications Manager to lead and execute a communications workstream for a large-scale organizational transformation. The role will focus on aligning and delivering an integrated communications strategy and plan in close coordination with HR’s Transition Office, with particular attention to labor relations in the Netherlands, as well as communications for individual employee impact.
This is a 9-month interim assignment, starting as soon as possible.
Context
The transformation is global in scope, with the highest concentration of employee impact in the Netherlands. The communications workstream must ensure employees, managers, and key stakeholders are informed through a clear, coordinated, and compliant approach.
Key accountabilities
1) Contribute to and drive an integrated communications strategy & plan for the next transformation phases
- As part of a project team, develop and run an integrated comms strategy and plan that supports major change milestones and translate these into clear employee-facing communications.
- Ensure plans are audience-based (employees, people managers, leaders, key stakeholders) and channel-appropriate (e.g., leader cascades, intranet, manager toolkits, live events, Q&A).
2) Lead the labor-relations-sensitive communications track (NL-focused, globally understandable)
- Partner closely with HR Transition Office, Employee Relations, Legal, and leadership to ensure communications are accurate, consistent, timely, and appropriate
- Translate milestones into clear “what this means now” guidance for employees and managers.
3) Lead communications for staffing, selection and mobility processes
- Drive and further refine the comms plan for staffing, selection and mobility approach (principles, process steps, timing, fairness, transparency, support options), aligned to transformation policy and HR process design.
4) Issues management, listening, and feedback loops
- Partner with stakeholders to manage issues; recommend corrective actions and proactive comms.

- Key partners: Employee Relations / Labor Relations, Legal, HRBPs, TA/Staffing leads
- Engagement model: Works through cross-functional alignment (Transformation Comms Group cadence exists).

About you
Skills & experience (must have)
- 8–12+ years (or equivalent) in strategic internal communications, change communications, or transformation communications in a complex organization.
- Demonstrated experience operating in high-sensitivity change contexts, with strong judgment on what can/cannot be communicated and when.
- Strong stakeholder management: able to align divergent views and drive decisions in multi-stakeholder governance.
- Exceptional writing and content strategy skills (leader comms, FAQs, toolkits, employee updates).
- Strong planning and execution: can build an integrated plan, run a cadence, and deliver under ambiguity and shifting timelines.
Experience (highly desirable)
- Experience in NL labor-relations-adjacent communications (Works Council, social partners) or comparable regulated consultation environments.
- Experience with staffing/selection communications and/or large-scale organizational redesign.
Ways of working
- Interim role with high autonomy; leads deliverables end-to-end while coordinating a virtual network of contributors (HR, program teams, comms peers).
- Operates with a “one narrative, many audiences” mindset; ensures global consistency with local (NL) depth where impact is greatest.
