The Senior Engineer is tasked with overseeing the scope assigned to them on a specific project. Leveraging their experience, they play a guiding role within their team. They ensure high-quality and timely execution of the final design, basic principles, detailed engineering, and documentation on drawings, 3D models, and other information carriers like data sheets for each discipline. They are responsible for the quality of the engineering scope assigned to them and are mindful of the complexities involved in multidisciplinary shipbuilding. They contribute to the department's development by supervising and training colleagues, improving quality standards in consultation with the manager, and fostering knowledge and innovation within the field.


Technical Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with specifications, internal and external project requirements, and regulations.
  • Conduct technical assessments of the manufacturability and feasibility of the yacht in consultation with other disciplines.
  • Ensure adherence to relevant regulations such as Class and Flag.
  • Identify technical bottlenecks and provide possible interdisciplinary solutions and arguments to support choices.
  • Alert the Project Engineer (PE) to missing or incorrect information, bottlenecks, and other critical issues.
  • Assist in the development of standards and norms.


Quality Responsibilities

  • Work according to guidelines and procedures (regulations of classification societies and flag states, safety, quality, and environment) for their own work.
  • Provide coaching and guidance in the professional development of engineers and supervise the correct and timely processing of all information, specifications, and possible changes in the drawing.
  • Supervise the inspection of drawings and other information carriers before they are sent to the shipyard and/or inspection authorities.


Budget, Progress, and Planning

  • Responsible for the timely delivery of the work assigned to them.
  • Maintain a certain level of awareness of budgeted hours for their own work.


Communication

  • Report, exchange information, coordinate, and consult about the design with the Lead Engineer, Senior Engineer, Project Engineer, and Project Manager Engineering (PME).
  • Consult with the Lead Engineer for technical knowledge and development.
  • Obtain and provide information, coordinate, and consult about the design with colleagues within and outside their own discipline.
  • Coordinate and consult on the design with subcontractors, suppliers, and other external contacts, always under the coordination of the Lead or Project Engineer or PME.
  • Review engineering output and collect feedback with Production.
  • If assigned as production support engineer, align with the Casco/Outfitting manager and project team on production planning and issues.

  • Competitive salary between €4.000 – 6.500 per month (based on knowledge and experience).
  • 38 days off (25 vacation days and 13 ADV days for full-time employment).
  • Travel allowance based on €0.23 per kilometer for commuting distance.

  • At least 3 years of experience as an engineer in this discipline or 3 years as a senior engineer in a similar organization.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Broad technical insight within the discipline in relation to yacht building.
  • Knowledge of production techniques and experience with the manufacturability of engineered parts.
  • Relevant knowledge of CAD systems and PLM (Autocad, Teamcenter).
  • Knowledge of guidelines and procedures (regulations of classification societies and flag states, safety, quality, and environment).
