The position

As a Commissioning Engineer, you will play an essential role in ensuring that technical installations and onboard systems operate safely, reliably, and according to project specifications.

You will be involved in commissioning activities for newly built superyachts, refit projects, and fleet support operations. Working closely with engineering, production teams, specialist subcontractors, and owner's representatives, you will coordinate and execute testing activities throughout the final stages of construction.

This position combines practical technical involvement onboard with multidisciplinary coordination, troubleshooting, and quality assurance.

Our client is a leading Dutch superyacht builder specializing in the development and construction of fully customized luxury yachts up to 140 meters in length. Combining innovative engineering, advanced technology, and exceptional craftsmanship, the organization delivers highly complex projects in close collaboration with international partners and specialist subcontractors.

To strengthen the commissioning team, we are looking for an experienced Commissioning Engineer who can oversee the testing, verification, and operational readiness of complex onboard systems.

About you

  • Bachelor's degree in Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a comparable technical discipline.
  • Proven experience within the shipbuilding or yachtbuilding industry.
  • Strong hands-on technical experience onboard vessels, preferably gained as a Third Engineer, Second Engineer, First Engineer, or Chief Engineer, or in a comparable marine engineering position.
  • Extensive experience in commissioning, testing, troubleshooting, maintenance, or engineering of complex onboard technical systems.
  • Strong understanding of multidisciplinary ship systems and their operational integration.
  • Experience working in project-driven technical environments involving multiple stakeholders.
  • Ability to interpret technical documentation, identify operational issues, and coordinate effective solutions.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with technical documentation and reporting tools.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Proactive, quality-conscious, and results-oriented working approach.

Offer

  • A challenging full-time position within an internationally recognized superyacht construction environment.
  • Gross monthly salary between €4.500 and €6.000, depending on qualifications and professional experience.
  • 38 days off annually: 25 vacation days and 13 ADV days, based on full-time employment.
  • Employment conditions in accordance with the Metalektro Collective Labour Agreement.
