About this vacancy

As Senior Industrial Engineer you are responsible for driving all activities in defining and implementing the industrial aspects of new products – from choice of wafer process and foundry to choice of package and definition of industrial flow – all aimed to ensure the NPI launch at the agreed time, costs and quality level within agreed boundaries, in compliance with the Business Creation and Management Process. The Industrial Engineer participates in a multidisciplinary project team and interfaces with manufacturing sites around the globe.

Job description

  • Deliver industrialization strategy document for an NPI (arguments for location, flow etc.) – drive realization of the chosen industrial strategy
  • Draft and issue Application Sheet (AS) and secure that package innovation definition covers the business line requirements (customer and functional requirement spec.)
  • Design for Manufacturability (DfM) assessment and risk assessment
  • Deliver the required gate documents at the right quality level (Doco-sheet, WiDi, Die-description, marking, packaging & packing specification, logistic flow)
  • Initiate and manage STRs for the NPI projects
  • Review process/package gate reports by factories to cover customer and BL requirements
  • Hand over product knowledge to sustaining experts after product release
  • Support product industrial maintenance
  • Review manufacturing changes (ECN, qualification plans, waivers, 8D’s, risk-assessments, non-conformances)
  • Lead or participate in 8D-teams (manufacturing problems, customer complaints)
  • Initiate and drive cost, efficiency, technology & quality improvement projects and transfers
  • Interface to Stakeholders: Alignment with Industrial manager, segment operations managers, resource managers on resource demand and allocation, Timely escalation of issues and risks, compliance to policies and guidelines
  • Provide input to BL Roadmap and Industrial Strategy (processes, packages, capex, locations etc.)
  • Participate in NXP technology teams (new package concepts, design rules etc.)
  • Maintain and extend knowledge on industrial solutions internally (factory visits, contacts to BL peers, package innovation) and externally (literature study, competitor tracking, conferences)

Candidate profile

  • University degree in technical discipline (preferably Electrical Engineering), Bachelor is not preferred but is possible
  • Knowledge of semiconductor front end and back end technology and manufacturing processes
  • Knowledge of and experience with NXP industrial base is considered a plus
  • Leaderships skills (stakeholder management, challenging others, the bigger picture, power of persuasion, able to convey enthusiasm, communicative, result-oriented and able to delegate)
  • Knowledge of problem solving techniques (8D, DMAIC, 5xWhy etc.)
  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written in English
