Within the Engine Development department, the System Function Design group is responsible to design control concepts to meet new customer, legal and safety related requirements. To support the growth in projects and technology development, we are looking for a well-qualified Functional Safety Function Design Engineer.
Job description
- Develop Heavy Duty Diesel / Hydrogen Engines with focus on designing control concepts for engine related systems (i.e. Functional Safety related concepts, cooling controls, EGR controls, OBD monitoring)
- Execute Functional Safety (FuSa) process to create the FuSa relevant deliverables from Item Definition down to Functional Safety Concept related to Engine and Aftertreatment on system level
- Support the team on FMEA activities and risk assessments
- Verify developed control concepts with SIL, HIL or RCP on an engine
- Unambiguous documentation of FuSa and controller related requirements
- Support calibration engineers with pre-calibration of new controller concepts
- Take initiative to constantly improve related tools and processes
- Collaboration in multidisciplinary project teams

Candidate profile
- MSc degree in Automotive or Mechanical Engineering specialized in dynamics and control
- Experience on FuSa Process and the relevant deliverables on system level (i.e. ISO26262)
- Experience on FMEA creation and execution of FMEA process
- Experience with PLATO alike tooling to support FMEA activities is a pre
- Knowledge of development process models like SPICE is a pre
- Experience with engine and after treatment controller development for EU / NA Emissions and OBD regulations
- Extensive knowledge of Matlab and Simulink
- Good knowledge of requirement engineering (IREB certificate is a pre)
- Doors Next Generation experience is a pre
