Job description

The essential responsibilities of the job include, but are not limited to:

  • Ensuring planned engineering (process) progress with respect to the engineering deliverables for tenders (as required) and awarded projects, process engineering planning & scheduling, preparation of progress reports, manpower & resource forecasts, time schedules of engineers, utilization of resources effectively & efficiently.
  • Process design & detail engineering including performing process simulations, design calculations, process optimization, sizing & selection of equipment’s etc. for tenders (as required) and for awarded projects. Review of clients tender documents, specifications, datasheets, verification of FEED design & calculations.
  • Preparation of various engineering deliverables (drawings & documents) such as process flow diagrams, P & I diagrams, process datasheets, equipment specifications, cause & effect diagrams, control philosophies, shutdown philosophies,HAZOP Studies & reports, operation & maintenance manuals etc. and providing necessary engineering inputs to the other disciplines and other departments.
  • Follow a strict gated design procedure.
  • Support sourcing, manufacturing and qualification processes to ensure the procurement of products within the quality and level of performance set forth by the project specification.
  • Support planning, sourcing and project engineering to ensure timely delivery of components meeting program and company objectives.
  • To ensure proper division of work & responsibility among the process engineers, providing proper guidance & integration of work done, ensuring good, positive & healthy working nature among the team of engineers to ensure optimum productivity & efficiency.
  • Preparation & Issue of RFQ’s, evaluation of vendor’s quotations, clarifications, technical bid analysis etc.
  • Review of vendor’s documents, drawings, datasheets, specifications and calculations.
  • Must be able to travel up to 50% of time on very short notice during peak outage seasons (6 months of the year), including international. Annual weighted travel up to 30% of time
  • Other duties as assigned.

SPECIFIC TASKS 

  • Basic & detail design engineering activities for the assigned project(s) in power plants focusing on gas handling for gas turbines in existing installations; connecting and integrating.
  • Activity planning, work scheduling, assigning responsibilities to engineers & draftsmen, and monitoring to meet the project schedule with resource optimization.
  • Preparation / review of PFD, P&ID’s, project specific specifications, design calculation / analysis, procurement specification.
  • Prepare, lead and summarize project meetings; organize, chair and evaluate design reviews.
  • Create, lead and/or deliver presentations to internal and external clients.
  • Support and maintain technical databases.
  • Interface with other disciplines, user departments and clients.
  • Estimation / engineering work related to bids
  • Writing technical specifications, engineering reports.
  • Properly account for the hours spent on specific tasks and projects.
  • Provide support to fellow team members creating an atmosphere where everyone will strive for the maximum results

Candidate profile

  • B.Sc. / M.Sc. Chemical engineering with an emphasis on process and gas handling plant design
  • Additional training:
    • Project management
    • Proficient in English
  • Minimum 5 years in Oil & Gas / Petrochemical Design Engineering (with minimum 3 years experience in Oil & Gas industry, in consulting OR EPC company with Design & Engineering capability)
  • Experience in gas handling, H2, LNG, NH3 is an advantage
  • Software Skills: Hands on experience in software such as HYSYS, PIPENET, PIPEPHASE, FLARENET
  • Standards: Conversant with the Engineering Standards such as API, NFPA, ASME, BS/EN, ISO
  • Flexible and adaptable

  • Able to work and deliver under pressure, ability to set and follow priorities.
