About this vacancy

For the department of Standards & Homologation we are looking for a Requirements Engineer with focus on European legislation. You will provide crucial input to our Product Development teams by writing Legal Requirement Specifications (LRS). A LRS is based on either published or draft EC/UNECE regulations and together with type approval authorities and internal specialists are made specific for our application. This way you ensure that our products are developed according European legislation throughout the V-cycle.

Job description

  • Deploy Legal Requirements derived from published EC and UNECE Regulations;
  • Define new legal requirements / update existing requirements in case of new or updated regulations with input of in- and external experts;
  • Maintain the Legal Requirements in the PACCAR Requirements Management tool DNG
  • Ensure that the legal requirements are according the quality characteristics, i.e. have a clear and ‘SMART’ description and are described including the source, rationale, fit criteria and test cases
  • Review the Legal Requirements Specification with the relevant stakeholders within Product Development, like property owners, function owners, system owners, component engineers, test engineers and homologation engineers;
  • Perform a traceability coverage analysis to ensure that the Legal Requirements are satisfied by the related requirements specifications within Product Development (like PRS, FRS, FDS, EEA-F, TRS) and report out the results to (Project) Management;
  • Participate as legal stakeholder and provide regulatory guidance in engineering specification reviews and engineering design reviews

In this function, you will report to the Manager Standards & Homologation.


You will be part of an experienced international team of the Platform Development group of DAF Embedded Engineering that is located in our awesome new office in Eindhoven, the Netherlands. Our full model based software development process is unique in the industry. Embedded Engineering is primarily located in Eindhoven and has an office in Pune, India and has over 120 highly skilled people today. Together we deliver world class engineering in the domains of engine controllers and vehicle controllers. Next to that, focusing on common software development, Embedded Engineering works closely together with PACCAR Embedded Engineering located in Renton (near Seattle), the USA. The products developed within Embedded Engineering are applied on DAF trucks but also in the famous PACCAR brands Kenworth and Peterbilt. Through component sales our products are used by leading bus and coach manufacturers.

Candidate profile

Your profile

  • Bachelor or Master in Automotive, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
  • Excellent Requirements Engineering skills and experience in writing requirement specifications
  • Experience in the practical application of legislation
  • Accurate and efficient working habits
  • Automotive product knowledge in the vehicle safety or engine emissions domain
  • Experience with / knowledge of the V-cycle development process is a pre
  • Experience with / knowledge of the homologation process is a pre
  • Performing as a proactive team player
  • Strong communicative and persuasive skills
  • Highly proficient in spoken and written English
