About this vacancy

As a Mechanical Design Engineer are you part of a multidisciplinary team in an international environment where you design and work out the mechanics of high-tech products.

You will be working on a wide range of products. Your role as a mechanical design engineer is very diverse. In one project you are responsible for the tolerance calculations to ensure that the small plastic parts, which you also work out yourself, to connect to each other. Within other projects you will be asked to calculate the static or dynamic structure.

Activities

  • Working in project teams to design total (sub-) system
  • Makes estimates based on the subsystem specifications for the purpose of rates, project plans and budgets (limited volume)
  • Translates the demands and wishes into working concepts and updates from CAD
  • Verifies whether the (sub) system complies with the specification, and whether it fits into the overall system. Bring any changes in coordination with the Senior Design Engineer / Systems Engineer / Systems Architect
  • Explains the design and results of the studies, evaluations and choices determine and prepares the archiving of the documents in the Product Data Management System
  • Provides support in analysing and resolving internal / external complaints / problems in the actual (sub-) system
  • Discusses with the other project team members wishes regarding critical aspects (impact on cost, schedule or quality) in the implementation of a (partial) task
  • A completed Bachelor’s or Master’s degree with technical background (preferably Mechanical Engineering, Physics or Industrial Design)
  • Oral and written communication techniques for technical product documentation, knowledge generation, transfer of information and instruction
  • Basic concepts of statistical calculations, tolerances, materials and production techniques
  • Risk analysis (DFMEA and other similar methods)
  • Current and new techniques, technologies and their application in (partial) products
  • CAD skills (SolidWorks, PTC Creo or Siemens NX)
  • You pick up trends and new technologies and apply them
  • You develop continuously on technical content and soft skills

Job requirements

  • A completed Bachelor’s or Master’s degree with technical background (preferably Mechanical Engineering, Physics or Industrial Design).
  • Oral and written communication techniques for technical product documentation, knowledge generation, transfer of information and instruction.
