About this vacancy

You will be primarily responsible for the new product development of various Electro Mechanical products and connectors, optionally incl. sustaining activities and new product extensions. Product development should be consistent with manufacturing techniques and economies - using information and input provided by marketing personnel, customers, development engineers or other personnel. Possess and apply considerable knowledge of Product Engineering principles, practices and procedures, including understanding of manufacturing technologies such as stamping, plating moulding assembly and machine application. The role will involve working with Sales, Product Management, Project Management, Manufacturing Engineering, Operations, Plant Quality, outside vendors and external engineering to ensure smooth release and maintenance of parts.

Job description

  • Understand the Mechanical, Electrical, Environmental and other requirements and create product specification
  • Handle all aspects involved in New Product development process from initial requirements to production phase
  • Create concepts and detail design using design and development methods such as DFMEA, Tolerance Analysis, DFSS, etc.
  • Coordinate with labs design validation, product testing and certification according to international standards
  • Design and documentation of precision stamped and moulded electro-mechanical component assemblies
  • De-risk product design by initiating and/or performing FEM and support analysis for critical items
  • Optimize product designs for cost-efficient and high-quality manufacturing (DFM)
  • Work on Design to Value (DTV) projects bringing down product cost and increasing product competitiveness
  • Evaluate manufacturing deviations and make decisions on deviation acceptance.
  • Prepare for First Article Approvals, Process Capability Studies, 8D reports and other quality product analyses
  • Work with Product Lifecycle Management and Engineering documentation and change management systems
  • Address product enquiries and product complaints arising for responsible products

Candidate profile

  • Degree in Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering
  • 5+ years of experience in an Interconnect, Consumer Electronics, Automotive, Appliances Industry or a reputed Design House
  • Good Knowledge of CAD tools preferably Creo, incl. PDMLink
  • Good Knowledge of LEAN Product Development Cycle and Processes
  • Experienced in electro-mechanical product design and preferably PLC related
  • Great knowledge in materials like resins, metal and plating would be a preferred
  • Proven ability to transform Voice of Customer into Technical Specifications
  • Capable of handling multiple projects simultaneously
  • Good conceptual and analytical skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively and accurately across multi-cultural groups
  • Should be Self-Motivated, Adaptive, Passionate about results and a Good Team Player
  • Strong technical aptitude with willingness to learn new technologies quickly
  • Demonstrated experience of working in a fast-paced/changing environment with ability to work to tight deadlines
  • Knowledge of Global Certifications and Regulatory Standards (UL, IEC, etc) will be an added advantage
  • Fluent Communication and Presentation skills in English 
  • German language proficiency is a plus 
  • Willingness to travel as required and at short notice
