YER Technology Event about Process Excellence

24-03-2017 16:13

Process Excellence was yesterday’s topic for the YER Technology Event. In the beautiful Skybar at the YER Office in Eindhoven we welcomed approximately 70 professionals who work at ASML, DAF, NXP, Philips and others. Sonia Carbajo (Philips) and Dirk Geens (ASML) inspired us with their vision on the theme.

After a delicious buffet, Bart Ghysels and Dries Aarts opened the programme with a brief welcome and a fun quiz about facts and figures in the technology market and the companies our professionals work for. The top 3 scorers received a nice present.

Lean thinking is a matter of course
Sonia Carbajo is Innovation Excellence Leader at Philips and has an impressive track record at Philips. Currently she is using her insights and work method to change the Philips Consumer Lifestyle organisation to an organisation where Lean thinking is a matter of course. In her presentation, she described Lean as a business strategy characterized by improving flow through the endless pursuit of waste elimination. Lean isn’t rocket science and it does not need to be complicated. She also gave insight into why organisations should implement Lean, what is the way to think Lean, what do we need to avoid to become Lean and how to make Lean a success.

Manufacturing process
Dirk Geens is Group Lead/Project Lead Production Engineering for System Qualification at ASML. He told us more about the manufacturing process at ASML and explained how a single wafer is produced. He also zoomed in on different manufacturing techniques that partly explain the success of ASML (including the Lean principles). We ended the programme with questions that were submitted in advance by our professionals.
