“At YER I am a person, not a number”
Albert Sancho (Spain)
Mechanical Engineer Lifting, ASML
Albert Sancho has a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering. He worked a few years as a teacher and at technical companies in Spain. When the economic crisis hit the country he decided to look for challenges abroad. In December 2012, he came to the Netherlands and has worked at ASML through our company since June 2014.
Albert on his work..
“At ASML I work as a Lifting Tools Designer for the Handling & Transport department. We are responsible for the design of lifting tools used to assemble machines. Therefore I spend a lot of time at the computer and there is a lot of interaction required with other departments to fine-tune and improve the designs. For example, to design a proper tool to lift a certain module of a machine, I need to liaise with the Safety Engineer, the Designer of the module itself and the Logistics department to order the tool. The thing I like most about my job is the discussions about competences during the safety risk assessments. Then I have to present my tool (my teaching experience is very helpful for this) and we discuss the different points of view of people from the various disciplines. I learn a lot during these discussions and together we ensure we deliver a perfect lifting tool."
..and on YER
"Initially I worked in the Netherlands through another secondment organisation. After a while I decided to switch to YER. I felt comfortable with my consultant and the organisation. YER offered me a permanent contract right from the start and it felt good that they gave me that confidence/trust. Most importantly, I’m not a number at YER, but a person. They are interested in me and if there are any issues, they address them adequately. They also look after my development, by offering Dutch classes and opportunities for training."
